Listen to the blog...

Chat GPT, an AI tool aka chatbot, spread like fire in the market in its first launch week. Millions of users tried it and started comparing it to google. Social media is flooded with many views from different perspectives, and comparisons, and leaves a big question: is ChatGPT going to replace google? Will chatGPT kill google?

Various people have performed ChatGPT experiments and compared it with its best alternatives. But the thing is, google is the world’s most widely spread search engine. At the same time, chat GPT is a chatbot.

Let’s compare/differentiate ChatGPT and Google. Will chatGPT replace google?

Before diving in, we must know how chatGPT and google work.

ChatGPT vs Google

How Does ChatGPT Work?

Chat GPT is a technical ” language machine”, or we can say it is an Artificial intelligence that generates words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs. It works by processing the input text, encoding it into a numerical representation, and then using that representation to generate a response.

AI provides access to chatGPT through API. AI’s API provides a convenient and efficient way for customers to access ChatGPT’s services without having to manage the underlying infrastructure or machine learning models themselves. It is designed to generate human-like responses with its knowledge and understanding of language.

When you ask a question from Chat GPT or provide a prompt. It uses its prior knowledge and the model to generate responses based on statistical data patterns it has learned from the text data it was trained on.

How Does Google Work?

Google is a search engine that uses a complex algorithm to index and rank web pages based on relevance and popularity.

Google searches web pages with automated programs such as crawlings, indexing, ranking, and displaying results.

Google sends bots, aka crawlers or spiders, to visit and analyze web pages on the internet. Bots follow connections from one website to the next, gathering information about each page they visit. Then google adds webpages to its index, a massive database of all the web pages, and this index keeps updating. When you search anything on google, it uses its algorithm to determine which page from the index is more relevant to the user’s query. It shows the results based on factors like the page’s content, content quality, page popularity, authority, and the user’s location and search history.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

ChatGPT is a chatbot that responds to every query like we are talking to a human expert.

Google is a search engine that gives information with details, and it has various sources, suggestions, and examples.

Nature of Response

When you ask ChatGPT a question, it will generate some content like paragraphs, articles, blogs, etc. you can get the answer most easily.

For Example: Questioned chatGPT “what is ohm’s law”?

It results in easy and understandable language

When you ask anything from Google, it will give you many suggestions regarding your question based on your location, web history, likes, and dislikes.

For Example: When we questioned google, “What is ohm’s law”?

It results in some web pages.

Knowledge

ChatGPT is a trained language model with limited information up to 2021, and it just replies with what’s fed into it. That means chatGPT doesn’t have any idea about what’s happening after 2021.

Google has billions of web pages containing a massive database and a lot of knowledge about every topic. It keeps updating new information and provides the most appropriate results in seconds.

Accuracy Issue

The information chatGPT provides is not assumed to be completely accurate. There are some limitations, and these limitations are far outreaching.

For Example, we can see here I have searched the lyrics of a song, and it is entirely unrelatable. The below-mentioned result is not accurate.

We have been continuously using google for information, which gives accurate information.

The explicit lyrics are searched on google to compare it with chatGPT.

Access to Internet

Chat GPT can not compare search results; it just shows the same result repeatedly.

For Example, if you ask anything to chatGPT, it will provide a single result every time you search, and it doesn’t have anything new.

Google offers you multiple varieties of results, and you can choose the most suitable and relevant one yourself and compare and verify the information.

Information

As discussed above, chatGPT has sufficient knowledge about a thing and cannot provide information about recent events and news.

Google can give us real-time information, and we can find any location and recent news.

Validity

ChatGPT is free but it has launched its paid version too which is priced at $20 per month. Where we can see something more exciting and maybe some new updates and features as well.

Google is free for all, and ads are the primary revenue for google. There is no subscription model, and we don’t have to pay for extra information.

Conclusion

While Google is a powerful and frequently utilized search engine, ChatGPT provides customers seeking information or assistance with a unique and personalized experience. ChatGPT can converse with users in natural language as an AI-powered conversational agent, providing personalized replies and recommendations based on individual requirements and preferences. While ChatGPT and Google play essential roles in the digital world, ChatGPT’s capacity to provide human-like contact and individualized support distinguishes it as a unique and beneficial tool for consumers.

Moreover, chatGPT has launched its plus version which has enhanced accuracy and performance, customization, access to more data and resources, and integration with other software and system.  These are only potential features; the actual features provided in a paid version of ChatGPT would be determined by the company or organization that develops it.
